On the face of it, weddings have barely changed in decades. But now the government is assessing the legislation on wedding venues, with the law likely to change, allowing weddings to be held at outside venues, pubs and restaurants previously constrained by archaic laws.

“While the laws around who can get married have evolved substantially in recent years, the laws on how and where marriages must take place have remained largely unchanged since 1836,” said a Treasury spokesperson in the Guardian.

The upshot, weddings are potentially about to become a lot more affordable.
