Stunning 16th century wedding barn at Bolton Abbey opens its doors for weddings summer 2018

Located amidst the magnificent surroundings of Bolton Abbey in North Yorkshire, The Tithe Barn has started taking reservations for 2018 and is set to become another fabulous venue for wedding barn operator, Cripps.

Built in the 1600s, The Tithe Barn is located in one of the most romantic settings in England, with a breath-taking backdrop overlooking the Priory ruins and the River Wharfe. Being one of the biggest timbered aisled barns in the north of England, the barn will provide one of the largest, most spectacular exclusive-use spaces in which to get married.

Tithe wedding barnStunning inside and out, guests at The Tithe Barn will have the opportunity to soak up the spectacular surrounding views and admire the building’s impressive structure.

The Grade II* listed barn, with its majestic timber frame untouched for almost 500 years, will be transformed into a high-quality wedding venue following careful and expert renovation work by the well-established Cripps Barn Group, who were approached to take on the project with the Bolton Abbey Estate.

Due for completion in 2018, this generous barn venue will be big enough to accommodate weddings and events for up to 400 guests. The venue itself will include a beautiful ceremony area, dining area, bar and spaces to relax, all carefully designed to be in keeping with the original building and to provide an inviting and romantic space. Cripps’ stylish signature touches, such as dramatic outdoor fire pits and large open terraces, as well as a late night license to serve your guests until 1am, will make the whole event truly unforgettable.

Cripps is a family-run business with over 20 years’ experience in hosting weddings and events. By restoring the UK’s most beautiful barns, each venue provides a relaxed and rustic atmosphere that will help create a truly memorable day for you and your guests.

The latest venue will be its largest and most impressive barn venue to date and will come with the award-winning wedding service provided by a fully trained on-site team.

The Tithe Barn will provide an extremely high standard of catering, offering mouth-watering food that looks as good as it tastes. The open kitchen offers added drama to guests, with impressive handmade Parisian rotisseries and a huge indoor BBQ serving signature dishes of whole barbecued lamb or beef sirloin bricks.

For those looking for an urban, informal twist, delicious street food options will be available. From Baz & Fred’s award-winning pizzas to popular bao buns and burgers, some of the country’s most tantalising and exciting street food will be available at the venue. Guests will also benefit from the group’s direct relationship with boutique wine estates in France, Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Benedict Heyes, Estates Director for the Bolton Abbey Estate, said: “We are very excited about this initiative. It has been an ambition of the Estate to find a new but sympathetic use for this building. Furthermore, it is an important historical building and its new use as a Wedding Barn will enable it to be enjoyed and seen by many other people.

“Thanks and appreciation should also be extended to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Historic England for their insight in supporting this development.”

Today, The Tithe Barn is recognised nationally as one of the finest examples of an English medieval barn - its scale and commanding position adding to its grandiose nature and structural splendour. Bookings for summer 2018 are now available.
